OakenwoodScott Block

songwriter / vocalist

Hello, my name is Scott and I am one side of the triangle.

I was born in Mankato, Minnesota in 1965 and save for a period between 1985-1989 in which I lived in sunny Saint Petersburg, Florida, I have lived in Minnesota my whole life. I am happily and (much to the disgust of my friends) blissfully married to Phil’s sister, Bobbi and together we live in “R House” in St. Cloud, MN. Bobbi is more than my wife; she is my friend, my soul mate, my inspiration and my muse. Though we have both traveled long and difficult roads apart (each of us having a failed marriage), our paths have joined and together we have found the meaning of true happiness.

I have a 17 year old daughter, Cassie and a 10 year old son, Alec, who live with their mom in a neighboring town. Cassie is a bright and beautiful (biased, I know) girl who is an honor student, a violin player and an employee of a fast food restaurant. Alec is young, carefree and a true beacon of sunshine in a hard and often cruel world. His laughter and his smile can light up any room and his wit often goes far beyond his years. He plays baseball in a youth league and lives for his next adventure.

Writing has always been my #1 passion, though, and I began writing my first novel in 1983. Here is a list of writing projects:

The Sword of Windor

A fantasy novel based on a Dungeons & Dragons™ character I created. This was my first attempt to write a complete novel and though it began on a typewriter, progressed past two other word processing units until finally being completed on a PC some years ago. This story grew so immense that it my hope to have the character's story be fully told in a trilogy.

Tirem

This is ultimately intended to be the third novel in the trilogy mentioned above. This project is yet in the telling stage and incomplete on paper.

Forcefield

This is to be my first novel not in the fantasy realm. A modern day tale of greed, power and domination, it is the story of a young boy's life and his special "talents" with those around him and shows how far one man will go to dominate all those around him.

About Hobbits

This is one of many collaborations with Phil. It is a story about those fury-footed fellows that Tolkien created and of how these folks who do not generally like adventure, are thrown into one for their very survival. This project is still in the developmental stages and has yet to be put on paper.

Travels

This collaboration with Phil deals with the characters from The Sword of Windor and Phil's book character and their travels together. It is being written from separate locations and is coming along nicely.

Sorcerer For Hire

This is my most recent tale. My hopes is for it to be a novelette but with my tendency to embellish a story, who knows. I started it in 2002 and am some 200 hundred pages into it at the time of this writing.

Sword Play

A short story. A modern day fiction about a man who has everything until his wife finds him a gift that will turn his reality inside out. This is a completed tale.

The Long Winter

Another short story. A fantasy tale about the most least likely hero thrown into a classic struggle to stop evil and save the world. This is a completed tale.

So those are my book projects. I also have countless poems, songs and prose that are filed away in cabinets and on disks. I write how I feel and many of my pieces can easily be explained by the stage of my life and the events that filled those stages. I write for the love of the tale and though I hope to one day see my name in the bookstores, I will forever write for pleasure.

My accolades include:
1998 National Library of Poetry collection “The Glistening Stars.” Poem published with Honorable Mention.
2003 National Library of Poetry collection “The Colors of Life.” Editor’s Choice Award and headlined poem titled “Sanctuary”
2004 National Library of Poetry selection for “Best Poets.” (A compilation of poetry by poets chosen by the ILP editors as the best from years past) Book to be published and yet untitled will include a poem entitled “This World.”

I am a professional photographer and have my own business called Masterpiece Photography. I have been operating it for the past 11 years and, most recently, have moved the business into my home. Though I make my living at photographing people, my first love is nature photography. I have thousands of Images that I have shot over the years, and it is truly my pleasure to be able to share some of them with you today.

The rule in my house is "if I didn't shoot it, I don't hang it on the wall."
