The three members of Oakenwood shared a common influence by way of a Creative Writing class during their sophomore year of high school, led by Ms. Patti Prince. To give you an idea of the class environment, the cover artwork of the Grateful Dead's Blues For Allah album was reproduced on the wall as a mural and a powerful duotone print of Jim Morrison hung near the door. We were encouraged to color outside the lines, to look at the world with an accepting eye and express it with pen and paper (today, sometimes, but mostly with a word processor).
